The basic thing to remember about getting to Alice Springs is that it's
a long way from anywhere, although at least roads to the north and south
are sealed.

Tennant
Creek to Alice Springs,
I go by way of Wauchope, Wycliffe Well, Barow Creek, Ti-Tree, and Alice Springs.
|
|

A
long road with monotone landscapes in a devastating heat, vast open
plains, and occassionally a few tree and lots of brush. Fortunately
all along the way I come across roadhouses, gas stations, motels, campgrounds,
where one can replenish provisions and which also function as small
grocery stores.
Food and drink, a possibility of replenishing supplies of drinking water.
Situated below the Tropic of Capricorn,
Alice Springs has a legendary and historical past.
Founded on Aboriginal lands that
spread out until the South.
Acity in the middle of the Australian
Outback, a tiny point in a desert with surprising plant life and wildlife.
Alice
Springs was founded to serve as a base for the telegraph lines in 1872,
as the Overland Telegraph Station.
In 1933 the city became Alice Springs with a population of only 400
inhabitants.
Today the city counts a population of 25,000.
