 White settlement to the Dalrymple Shire during the 1800's was slow until the first specks of precious metal were unearthed.
Today you can explore the historic treeasures of this region, trace the footsteps of the early explorers, taste bush tucker, marvel at the grandeur
of hertiage homes and maybe discover a few flecks of gold in the old diggings where miners once toiled.
The town once dubbed "The World" in 1871du to its cosmopolitan nature, was home to 36,000 people.
Today it's still a thriving and vibrant city, the centre of town is a "living museum"of heritage buildings used for everyday business.
The World Theatre, built in 1891 as an internatonal banking house, has been restored and is now a cinema, theatre, public art gallery and archival centre, and home to Lawson's Restaurant.

     Two hours north on The Great Inland Way you come across the former nickel mining town of Greenvale.
Take the time to stop and talk with the locals.
Further north, the Undara Volcanic National Park, is where you'll find the Undara Lava tubes.
Spread across 100 kilometres of countryside, these tubes were formed over 190,000 years ago by a volcanic eruotion,
60 caves and arches extend through the country in Australia's longest and largest laval tube system
