From Forster take the main road, direction Taree, and take the Pacific Highway to Port Macquarie. There is another route with less traffic along the coast if you cross the Lake Imes Nat rest, the road is rolling, a super landscape, it's a 5km drive along the ocean. Port Macquarie surrounded by hills.

This point is adjacent and to the north of our destination.
It was built in an area overlooking the entrance to the Hasting River and was originally guarded by two cannons, two four pounders. Mr Benjamin Boyd's yacht, the "Wanderer", was wrecked off this point, turning to cross the bar to enter the harbor in 1851. Some relics from the wreck may be seen at the museum.

This map of old Port Macquarie and its shelter were erected by the Port Macquarie lions Club in the centenary year of 1968. A visit not to be missed, a return to another time.
